The Sioux Lookout OPP are getting ready to help out Special Olympics Ontario. They're currently planning their annual torch run, which takes place September 1 between 11:00 and 2:00.

"We're organizing the Law Enforcement Torch Run. We'll be walking from 41 King St. at Community Living in Sioux Lookout to 97 Front. St. to raise awareness of our initiative to raise money for the Special Olympics," Const. Peter Boss said.

Once they arrive at the Rainbow Car Wash, they'll be holding a barbecue, car wash and silent auction in support of the cause. The walk include members of Sioux Lookout law enforcement, as well as workers at Community Living Sioux Lookout, But Boss says they're inviting the public to join them.

"They can meet us at 41 King St. at 11:00 and join our walk and participate in the barbecue. If they're not able to make the walk, silent auction or barbecue then they can to go the Torch Run Ontario website and donate money to help out the cause," he said.

The annual event has been growing since it's beginning in 1987, and more than $26 million has been raised for the Special Olympics in Ontario. The contributions from the runners alone, the province has raised more than $19 million.
